You will find this book lurking around in the academia. This conclusion stems from my experience during my masters degree program at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces. This was the prescribed textbook for a power systems III course.

There are many great things about this book. Every chapter has a case study – an in-depth analysis of how and why on topics ranging from utility restructuring (deregulation) to how power flows are managed. The book also comes with the Power World Simulator software that allows you to model a real world power system (design examples included) and manage power flows by taking into account the real & reactive power flows, phase angles at each bus, voltages, etc. I could go on, however, I will let you decide for yourself. Go ahead, preview it on Amazon.
